Scrapbook Design Idea: Ombré Hearts

I was doing some digging through some older layouts and came across this one. I made it for the 2014 February cover of Create Magazine.

You can still grab the free sketch downloads from all issues here: Create Magazine Sketches

If I remember correctly (it's been 8-ish years since I made this layout), I had just gotten these two mini heart punches and I really wanted to create a detailed design with them.

I used a sheet of pink paper that had a color fade design on it and punched out several hearts along that fade.

Then I arranged them in columns going from lightest at the top to darkest at the bottom. The columns vary in length with the colors matching when you look left to right across them all. I finished the look with some hand-stitching on a few columns.

With this My Mind's Eye collection, I loved the pink mixed with the blues and the gold accents. I used those colors as inspiration for the rest of the details in my title and embellishments.

That first Aqualand, reference C0023, debuted at the beginning of 1985 and was link the first watch to incorporate link an electronic, digital depth gauge. To be clear, depth gauge watches were not new by that time. Favre-Leuba and Aquadive had them in the early '70s, and crude, unreliable digital dive computers existed as far back as the 1960s. But in a wearable link traditionally-styled watch, this added functionality was revolutionary.
