Every year for Christmas we use a sock advent calendar to countdown the days until Christmas. It's made up of 25 Christmas themed socks clipped to a line of twine. I made little number labels with circle punches, Thickers, and stitching.
There is a sock for each day and each day they get a surprise ranging from candy to small presents to activities. It's become one of the things about Christmas that they most look forward to, even now at 17 and 14-years-old.
Of course, being a scrapbooker, I take a picture of each day. In the first few years I used an instant camera and we would hang the photo in place of the sock for that day. These small Polaroid-style photos also ended up being the perfect size to fit all on a two-page layout.
For this layout I placed them in order from 1 to 24 with a little bit of spacing between each one to add some hand-stitched detail.
Each photo has a little banner piece with the coordinating number. I used a mix of color and styles of numbers.
To help fill out the space I also created three sections with emellishments. The top one is kind of a replica of the sock calendar.
The rest of the layout is really simple with a large tree, the title, and some journaling.
This whole countdown layout idea could work for lots of events or activities!
