"Flowers For Mommy" (2) for Throwback Thursday

This is my second “Flowers for Mommy” page this month! This one is a throwback layout, both in pictures and products. The pictures are of now almost 14-year-old as a toddler and the products are mostly BasicGrey from long, long ago.

This layout comes from a sketch I’ve used so many times and each time it looks so different from the rest. That’s one of the greatest benefits to using sketches, you can use them over and over and get a different result each time.

The biggest change I made to the sketch this time around was including a large photo in place of what was a large photo block made up of smaller photos. I think it’s fun to mix it up sometimes and use a larger photo, like an 8 x 10”. Not only is it a great way to highlight a favorite photo, it is also a option for when you don’t have enough photos as suggested on a sketch. Large photo blocks (a grouping of smaller photos arranged together in one block) are always open for endless opportunities. I see them as puzzles that I can solve to fit the photos I want to use.

When it comes to the wavy strips on this layout, I saw an opportunity to create hills with flowers growing out of them. Other times I’ve used this sketch I created trees and one time I made roads with cars traveling along them.

Do you ever use a sketch more than once? Do you change them up each time?
