Scrapbook Design Idea | Cluster Background

This layout has lots of detail and yet was super easier to construct thanks to some punches and a 6x6" paper pad!

I used a 4 different sizes of heart punches with 9 different patterned papers. The great thing about 6x6" papers is that patterns are smaller so they work really well with punches! You can punch out a tiny shape and still get a decent representation of that pattern on it. Small papers and patterns for the win!!

When it came to arranging the design, I didn't really have a plan for the shape of the overall design. I just started laying out the larger hearts out first, then moved onto the medium ones, then the smaller, etc. filling out the background design. This is always my go-to method for creating clusters - working from largest to smallest.

I also added some stitching to some of the hearts for added dimension and texture. Some of the hearts are stitched after they were adhered to the carstock base and on some I stitched before I adhered them so that I could adhere them with foam adhesive.

To complete the design I added some teeny tiny hearts punched from a glitter paper along with some speech bubbles and word/phrase stickers.

What's fun about this concept is that you can adapt this to so many different themes and elements and there are two areas that you can customize.
The first is the shape of the overall cluster design. Try a large...
• heart
• star
• square
• circle
• diamond
• triangle
• hexagon
The second is what you use to create the cluster. Try using...
• pre-made embellishments
• simple punched shapes (like I used)
• die cuts
So many possibilities!!
