This layout is from a class I taught last year at the amazing Simple Stories Get Creative event. They really know how to put together a fabulous event! To create this argyle-style background I first cut several squares out of a variety of patterned papers. I chose to use 6 x 6" papers for this design since the patterns are smaller and works well with smaller pieces like this.
