Scrapbook Design Idea | Covering a Large Shape in Smaller Pieces

One of my go-to design concepts that I LOVE is covering a large shape in smaller pieces. It's one of those designs that I will use over and over again!

For this particular layout I started with layering two patterned paper stars together to serve as the base for the design.

Then I cut several small angled pieces out a variety of different colors and patterns. Those angled pieces are then arranged in three rows across the star base creating a kind of chevron-style pattern.

One of the reasons I love this design concept so much is how easy it is to adapt and customize. And, it works great with 6x6" paper pads too!
For the base you can use a:
• star
• heart
• circle
• square
• rectangle
• diamond
• triangle
Then for the details on top, there are almost endless opportunities! You can:
• create a pattern with strips or squares
• cover it in shapes like diamonds, squares, circles, hexagons, etc.
• arrange themed elements on it
• cover the whole thing, or...
• cover just a section of it

It's one of those concepts that can be used over and over with different results every single time!
