This concept is one that I love creating with over and over again!

Supplies used - Cardstock: American Crafts and Simple Stories; Patterned paper, die cuts, and stickers: Echo Park; Nuvo Dream Drops: Tonic Studios; Embroidery floss: DMC; Computer font: Century Gothic
It consists of cutting a large shape, in the case of this layout a heart, out of a sheet of 12 x 12" cardstock. Then creating a pattern covering another sheet of 12 x 12" cardstock and adhering the shape frame cardstock piece top.

For this layout I used 2 x 2" squares tilted to create diamonds. For some added dimension I used a few layered flowers on top of some squares.

The large heart frame has a chain link stitched border to really enhance and outline the heart shape. Then on the squares I added a stitched border with a high contrast color to highlight the pattern of the squares.

This concept can be adapted to so many ideas! For the large shape frame you can use a...
• heart
• star
• square
• circle
• diamond
• triangle
• hexagon
Then for the pattern you can use...
• squares
• horizontal strips
• vertical strips
• fringe
• scallop strips
• themed die cuts
• punched shapes
• hexagons
There are so many possibilities!!
