Scrapbook Layout | Family

The layout I'm sharing today is one that is based on a sketch from my Sketches 2024 class with Scrapbook & Cards Today. That was such a fun class to be involved in!

Supplies used - Patterned paper: American Crafts and 49 & Market; Die cuts, stickers, and enamel hearts: American Crafts; Wooden title: Color Cast Designs; Embroidery floss: DMC; Computer font: Century Gothic

The sketch had three larger pieces layered together to create a larger background. I was wanting to include more papers so instead of using three pieces, I split it up into several smaller vertical banner strips.

This is a common approach I like to take with sketch designs. I will visualize the pieces that make up a background as a whole. Then I can split and section that whole into how ever many pieces I want, made up of any shape I want. This way you still get the same general placement, but it's altered to fit your own ideas. This is always an interesting way to customize or change the look of a sketch design.

For the rest of the layout, I framed the banner strip background with flowers and butterflies. And, of course, I had to add some hand-stitched details on those strips!
