Sketch Support #37 | Learn How to Use and Adapt Scrapbook Sketches | Day 3

Once a month learn how to use scrapbook sketches and adapt them to fit different styles, photo sizes, and themes. Sketches = endless scrapbooking ideas with little effort. Sketches do all the heavy lifting allowing you to have all the fun!

My day two three layout adapts the design to a two-page layout and an Easter theme.

Here is the one-page sketch that each layout this week will be based on:

This month it is a 3-page PDF of 23 different sketch options. That makes 24 sketches for this month of Sketch Support. There are options that show how to change up the papers, use more photos, use less photos, there are four two-page options, and then an 8-1/2 x 11" option. The fun part is that you could use each option as a layout on its own, but you could also mix and match different options for endless possibilities!

Supplies used - Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned paper: Simple Stories; Die cuts and stickers: Doodlebug and Simple Stories; Embroidery floss: DMC; Computer font: Century Gothic

I adapted the one-page sketch into a two-page layout by stretching the design across both pages. Instead of the vertical banner strips I used horizontal wavy strips with fringe cut along the top edge to create grass.

I added some stitched detail and lots of fun Easter themed elements like eggs, a bunny, carrots, and flowers.

For my photos I stayed somewhat close to the sketch design with two photos at the bottom right and two photos at the top left.

Funny story - I had just finished this layout when I needed to search through older layouts to find a particular one and what did I come across? These very pictures on another layout! I guess I need a better system of "Have I scrapbooked these or not?" to keep myself from doing this! Oh well! The pictures were already printed and ready to go so I just assumed they hadn't been used. And, I have a fun time creating this regardless!

Also, if you enjoy all of the free sketches that I have created, be sure to join us in the Creating w/ Sketches Facebook Group! We have layout gallery for all of the free sketches that I have created.
