Sketch Support #44 | Learn How to Use and Adapt Scrapbook Sketches | Day 3

Once a month learn how to use scrapbook sketches and adapt them to fit different styles, photo sizes, and themes. Sketches = endless scrapbooking ideas with little effort. Sketches do all the heavy lifting allowing you to have all the fun!

The last layout of the week is always about showing how you can adapt the sketch to fit a different size of layout. I have used the new, free two-page sketch as my starting point for a one-page layout.

Here is the two-page sketch that I'll be using this week:

This month it is a 3-page PDF of 22 different sketch options. That makes 23 sketches for this month of Sketch Support. There are options that show how to change up the papers, use more photos, use less photos, there are three one-page options, and then an 8-1/2 x 11" option. The fun part is that you could use each option as a layout on its own, but you could also mix and match different options for endless possibilities!

To adapt the two-page sketch design into a one-page layout I really focused on the wreath-style detail of the sketch and changed the shape of it to a circle.

I have had this photo of Jackson chilling in the middle of tons of tiny fish sitting on my table F.O.R.E.V.E.R just waiting for the perfect opportunity. And, this sketch came along and instantly sparked an idea. I was so excited that I even did a little happy dance when I picked up the photo and realized what I could do with it.

I decided to switch up the shape of the hearts frame to a circle to match the circle opening of the fish in the photo. To create the base of the circle I used my Silhouette to sketch eight circles layered together. Then I pierced the holes and stitched with four different shades of teal to match the shade of color in the water.

Instead of hearts I decided to go super theme specific and used my Silhouette to cut out lots of fish in four different shades of teal. I wanted to add a little extra detail to them so I drew some scales and stitched them with the same embroidery floss I used for the circles. Then I adhered them all with foam adhesive.

For my photo and background I decided to match the circle shape of the frame design.

To finish the design I added my title and journaling in opposite corners and added some enamel dots and word/phrase stickers throughout the circle frame.

I am so in love with how this turned out!! I love it when photo, theme, and sketch come together in perfect harmony!
