Once a month learn how to use scrapbook sketches and adapt them to fit different styles, photo sizes, and themes. Sketches = endless scrapbooking ideas with little effort. Sketches do all the heavy lifting allowing you to have all the fun!
For my second layout I took more of a bold approach to the strips design!
Here is the one-page sketch that I'll be using this week:

This month it is a 3-page PDF of 23 different sketch options. That makes 24 sketches for this month of Sketch Support. There are options that show how to change up the papers, use more photos, use less photos, there are four two-page options, and then an 8-1/2 x 11" option. The fun part is that you could use each option as a layout on its own, but you could also mix and match different options for endless possibilities!

Supplies used - Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned paper: Simple Stories, Bella Blvd., American Crafts, My Mind's Eye, and Echo Park; Acrylic title and flower pieces: Color Cast Designs; Heart punch: Fiskars; Glitter paper: DCWV; Word/phrase stickers: Simple Stories; Embroidery floss: DMC; Computer font: Century Gothic
Variation #1 - Using one photo in place of the two on the sketch.
For this layout I only had one photo so most of my adjustments came from that. I placed it in the same general area as the two photos on the sketch. This is also what drove the decision for...
Variation #2 - Extending the strips to the corners.
I had this one tiny photo so with that middle section of white space being a little more prominent I decided to go a little more bold and detailed with the strips design. I placed the three strips like you see on the sketch and then added more so that the design extends to the corners. This leaves the middle diamond as the only spot of white space.

This color combo is not one that I think I ever would have come up with on my own! The colors in my photo are kind of blah, so I pulled the colors from my older sister, Stacey's, outfit. I love the brighter, bolder colors and thought it would be a fun combo!

To add some texture and dimension to those strips I added stitching that coordinates with the colors of the strips. This was one of those that was so fun seeing it come together color by color. It always amazing me how much more I love a layout design after that stitching is added!

Variation #3 - Adapting the details to one photo.
I kept the title placement the same as the sketch and then moved the journaling next to the photo instead of above it.

For the embellishments I kept it super simple. There's so much detail in the papers that I didn't feel like it needed much else. I really lucked out too! These acrylic flowers were already on my table from a layout a made a few weeks ago. They color coordinated so well with these papers and were the perfect simple embellishment I was looking for!
That's all for today! Be sure to check back tomorrow for my third layout!!
