Once a month learn how to use scrapbook sketches and adapt them to fit different styles, photo sizes, and themes. Sketches = endless scrapbooking ideas with little effort. Sketches do all the heavy lifting allowing you to have all the fun!
For the layout today the sketch and my photos merged together to bring the design inspiration! I always love when I'm starting with a sketch and as a go through my photos a unique idea forms!
Here is the two-page sketch that I'll be using this week:

You can also grab the Sketch Support #46 Bonus Sketch Examples!

This month it is a 3-page PDF of 22 different sketch options. That makes 23 sketches for this month of Sketch Support. There are options that show how to change up the papers, use more photos, use less photos, there are three one-page options, and then an 8-1/2 x 11" option. The fun part is that you could use each option as a layout on its own, but you could also mix and match different options for endless possibilities!
I've also designed a cut file that matches the large star with the star cluster on the edges. If you have a die cutting machine, this can make putting this layout together much easier!

Supplies used - Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned paper: Echo Park, Simple Stories, My Mind's Eye, and Sassafras Lass (I think!); Star punches: Fiskars and Recollections; Embroidery floss: DMC; Computer font: Century Gothic
The last day is always about showing how to adapt the sketch to a different size of layout and since we started with a two-page sketch, I adapted it to work on a one-page layout.

I focused my attention on the left page and the large star background with the cluster on the side and customized to my photos and story. I had these photos of Drew creating the word "wow" with his mouth and fingers and the second I saw them an idea for this sketch popped into my head.

I used my Silhouette to cut out the letters, making the "O" bigger to stand in for the star background on the sketch. (Funny thing about the patterned paper for the "O"...I've had it FOREVER! Like 15-ish years. It's always been a paper I've loved and so I'm super happy to have found a home for it on this layout!)

After I had the word "wow" arranged on my layout I added the star cluster along the bottom, left, and top edges of the "O", matching the design of the sketch. I used a variety of patterned papers, shapes, and sizes to create the cluster along with lots of stitching to help those individual pieces stand out.

I thought this ended up being a really fun and playful take on the sketch design!
