Using an AD Cut File | Awesome

I've really been busy with creating cut files lately, but not so busy using them! Honestly, with the amount I've made since we started I don't think trying to create with each one is a possibility! But, this "awesome" cut file was one I couldn't skip over!

Supplies used - Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned papers: My Mind's Eye, Simple Stories, Bella Blvd., and Echo Park; "awesome" cut file: Scrapbook Generation; Star punches: Fiskars; Photo frame and vellum strips: My Mind's Eye
I have really enjoyed, lately, putting together my own "boy-ish" collections from my stash. It seems to be a theme that is really under-represented in the scrapbooking world so often my go-to is to come up with my own, in a sense.

To put these colors together I looked to Jackson's shirt and started with those colors - yellow, orange, and red - and then I added some accent colors that I thought went well with those three. I went with teal, dark blue, a woodgrain patterned and a black and white checkered pattern. When I tell you I ended up loving the color/pattern combo, I mean I really, really LOVED it!

For the "awesome" cut file design, I cut that out of black patterned paper and then used a different color and pattern to back each letter and star. For some added dimension and texture I also added a stitched border on each paper.

When it came to the rest of the layout I design I started by adhering the three photos above the "awesome" die cut and then added lots of stars, some vellum strips, and a few rectangles of patterned paper.
