Easy Technique | Stickles Four Point Stars

This layout was part of a class I taught at a previous We Create. We covered some hot air balloon die cuts with patterned papers and stitching and created a "scene".

Supplies used - Cardstock: American Crafts and Simple Stories; Patterned paper: Catherine Pooler Designs; Hot air balloon cut file: Silhouette Design Store #28025; Stickles: Ranger; Embroidery floss: DMC; Computer font: Century Gothic

For three of the balloon die cuts they are covered in a single sheet of paper, but for the largest one I covered it in a diamond pattern. Each balloon has a stitched border and was adhered together with foam adhesive to add dimension.

The smaller balloons have a simple white border while the large balloon with the diamonds has high contrast blue stitching that follows the pattern.

For the bottom of each balloon I used a chain link stitch for the ropes and then created a basket/bucket out of kraft cardstock.

As I was covering the large balloon with the diamonds pattern I noticed that one of the patterns (the dark blue with balloons and clouds) had some cute four point stars. That felt like the perfect accent to add to this layout so I used a mix of cardstock stars and Stickles stars.

To make the four point stars with Stickles (or Nuvo Drops)...

  1. Squeeze out a large dot.

  2. Use a needle and place it in the center of the Stickles dot. Drag the needle point straight up to create the first point.

  3. Place the needle in the center again and drag the needle point to the left.

  4. Place the needle in the center and drag the needle point to the right.

  5. Place the needle in the center and drag the needle point down to make the last point.

Those four point stars are such a fun accent and I can definitely see myself using them again and again!
