I swear there is nothing that beats the high of having a idea come together in a way that is ever better than you could image! I love it when that happens!! Ideas can be a crap-shoot sometimes and even good ones can end in failure. So, when one exceeds all expectations, that's an exceptional feeling of accomplishment!

Supplies used - Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned paper: Simple Stories, Bella Blvd.; My Mind's Eye, and Little Yellow Bicycle; Wave cut file: Silhouette Design Store 28688; Water droplet cut file: Cut Files by Allison; Foam words, stickers, die cuts, and chipboard: Simple Stories; Embroidery floss: DMC; Computer font: Century Gothic
I knew from the get-go that I wanted to create a big wave design with lots of splashes that would frame the photos in the center. That was my starting point of the whole design and I used my Silhouette to help me get all the parts and pieces to construct it cut.

I cut two large wave pieces that mirror each other and go higher on the left and right edges. Then I used several shades of blue patterned papers for the droplets in a variety of sizes.

To really make all of the splash details stand out I added a stitched border on almost all of the pieces.

A lot of times as I am prepping or creating one part of the layout my brain is spinning with brainstorms of ideas that could work. It's like a wheel constantly churning out suggestions and thoughts. Somewhere in the process of creating the waves and splash I starting thinking about turning it into a beach scene along the bottom edge.

I cut two tan strips to add to the bottom for the sandy beach I had envisioned. Then I added lots of beach houses and palm trees on those tan strips.

This collection from Simple Stories had the cutest stilted beach houses and I love how well they worked to create the beachy scene!

For my photos in the center I used a grouping of mostly squares photos (the one on the far right is a 4 x 6" photo) and overlapped them. I kept this part pretty simple since the rest of the design has so much detail. I wanted to ensure that those photos still took center stage!
