Scrapbook Design Idea | Patterned Paper Stitching

Have you ever wanted to start hand-stitching but you don't know where to start? The layout I'm sharing today showcases an easy way to jump in without having to draw a custom design.

This is actually the second time I've stitched this design on this particular paper. To me it's just one of those that screams "Stitch on me!" and I just can't help myself!

This super fun paper by Vicki Boutin has a bunch of layered rainbows in bright colors. I cut it into a square background, added my photo, and then got to work on the stitching.

Because the design I wanted to stitch is already on the paper all I had to do was use my paper piercer to pierce holes in the center of each arch of color. Then I used a color of embroidery floss that matched the arch I was stitching. This is such an easy way to dip your toes into stitching without having to plan out a custom design or mess with pencil lines and rulers. There are so many great patterned papers out there that are perfect for adding stitched details!

A little tip: if you find a stitching design like this to be overwhelming, try tackling one color at a time. Let's say you start with red first. You would pierce the holes for all the red sections and then stitch through those. Then you can move onto the next color by piercing all those holes and then stitching through them. This helps to break up the tedious part of piercing the holes and it always so fun to see a project like this come together color by color.
