Scrapbook Design Idea | Sun w/ Themed Details

I had the idea for this layout was largely inspired by the flower die cut packages from Cocoa Vanilla. I LOVE those packages and I thought it would be fun to use them in a kind of different way, with a sun design.

Supplies used - Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned paper and die cuts: Cocoa Vanilla; Sequins: unknown; Nuvo Drops: Tonic Studios; Embroidery floss: DMC; Computer font: Century Gothic

I started with a yellow patterned paper circle as the base for the sun. Then I added a cluster of those Cocoa Vanilla flowers around the edge.

I wanted it to have a rainbow affect so I arranged them from the coral to orange to yellow to blue to pink. All of the larger flowers are adhered flat and then I added some smaller flowers and butterflies with foam adhesive to add some dimension.

For the rest of the sun I added stitched lines with two different colors of yellow embroidery floss and finished the look with some gold sequins.

I feel like this design concept could be adapted to so many different themed elements. You could try stars, hearts, beach embellishments, arrows, Easter eggs, butterflies, or leaves. Your imagination is the only limit!
