Scrapbook Design Idea | Framing a Large Shape with Small Strips

I have always enjoyed creating layouts with lots of detail. This design idea was one that I've wanted to play around with for quite some time!

I started off with a large cardstock heart that I cut on my Silhouette. Then I traced that heart onto my cardstock base. This pencil line was the guide for the small strip placement.

I cut several 1/4" strips out of different patterned papers and then cut those into 1" pieces. Then I arranged and adhered them on that pencil line to form the shape of a heart. The great thing about this design is that the strips don't have to be lined up perfectly so even though there are a ton of them, adhering them went fast.

After I had all of those strips adhered I added the white cardstock heart to the center along with my photos, title, journaling, and embellishments.

You could easily recreate this concept with other shapes too! Try using a square, circle, star, hexagon, diamond, or triangle!
