Scrapbooking Quick Tip: Using a Quote

As a big fan of quotes, occasionally I like to use them on my scrapbook pages. Using them is a fun way to mix up and it's fun trying to design your page around a large quote. Usually I design around the photos I have so it's a nice challenge to do something a little different than the norm. A great thing about quotes is that they can take the place of a title or journaling or both.

Supplies used - Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned paper: Fancy Pants Designs; Heart stickers: Fancy Pants Designs; Word stickers: Simple Stories; Computer font: Silhouette Envision and Avenir Next Condensed; Embroidery floss; DMC

I can't remember exactly all of the places I've seen this particular quote. I know I've seen it used in many different formats and themes. The word dad can be replaced with pretty much anything. I think I originally saw it on something on Pinterest and I remembered that I had this great set of photos of Jackson and his dad and this quote would be perfect for it.

I used my Silhouette to design and lay out the quote. Since it's a two-page layout and I am stretching the whole quote across two-pages, I positioned the words on two 12 x 3-1/4" strips so that the quote is read across the pages.

In order for the words to stand out, I added a piece of patterned paper behind each word, adhering it on the backside. I used foam adhesive to adhere the papers to the back. That little shadow that show between the letters on the white cardstock and the patterned paper behind it really makes those letters stand out.

When designing the quote, I left a little space to add a small photo and some heart embellishments across the bottom.

Then to finish the whole look of the quote I added some hand-stitched lines to help frame it and help it stand out above all of those vertical patterned paper strips.

To finish the layout I added several hearts and word stickers on the photos above the quote piece.
