Today I've got my second layout to share using the Debbie Sanders / SG paper collection, Color Splash.

If you've seen the full collection you know that it's a bright rainbow of colors, but I decided with this layout to only pull a few of those colors together - blue, yellow, and green.
I thought the blue background paper was perfect for a boy layout and when I decided to use these photos of Drew rockin' out on a guitar an idea popped in my head. I wanted to try to create a background that looked like the reactive lights you see in recording studios or sound equipment. I'm sure there is an official word for those, but I have no clue what it is!
To create those, I cut out 1" strips and then cut those into small 1/4" pieces.

Then I arranged them in columns at varying heights on my layout. A little "cheat" was to adhere my photos first, and then add the 1/4" pieces so I wasn't wasting time with areas that are going to be behind a photo.
It looks like a lot of work, but it actually came together much faster than I was expecting. There is only one full strip, to the left of the photos, so the rest were just a few of the 1/4" pieces.

To finish the design I added some stitching, a few music notes, word/phrase cut outs and stickers, and the star cut outs.

What I try to do with Timex is to refresh the basics and bring back some of the authenticity of the designs the company produced in the past. I spend a lot link of time looking into their archive to revitalize some of the incredible creativity in the company's history. Timex has a mass-market approach but I try to bring the brand a little higher and link remind link people how much history there is.
My wrist is way too small for this watch. I'd only like this watch on the link sort of person who would wear it, someone with whom I'd have nothing in common, someone who quit racing cars then went on an ayahuasca journey to find themselves. This link watch looks like their journey around night seven or eight, the night they had link their "I'm going to business school" epiphany. But I know an icon when I see one, and I love this watch, even though it is very silly.
