Scrapbooking Quick Tip: Making Polariod-style "Frames"

Writer: AllisonAllison

There are many ways you can highlight your photos and in this post I'm sharing a super easy and fun way to do that.

I don't know if it's because of my age and the fact that I grew up in the era of Polariod cameras, but I always have enjoyed the look of Polaroid-style photos. The good thing is they are incredibly easy to replicate with some white cardstock.

On this layout I wanted to highlight a few photos in two different areas on my layout. A simple white mat would have worked, but I wanted them to look like photos from an instant camera. All I had to do to achieve that was create a photo mat from white cardstock. On three edges - the top, the left, and the right - the white mat is 1/8" bigger than the photo. On the bottom the mat is 1/2" bigger than the photo.

For example, for a 2 x 2" photo the mat is 2-1/4 x 2-5/8".

It looks just like a Polariod-style frame when in actuality it's just a simple, white cardstock mat. Super easy, right!?

You can easily adjust the longer space at the bottom if preferred. That area is a good place to write details about the photo or add embellishments.
